Grades 3-4: STARBASE - WeDo LEGO Robotics and Little Bits

For Students in Grades 3-4 Only
Students will explore robotics through the use of WeDo LEGOs. Students will learn the basics of robotics programming and choose a variety of projects to build. Electronics will be explored through the use of Little Bits blocks that attach magnetically. Combining both LEGOs and Little Bits, students will problem solve how to create an object that moves and has a purpose.

Science Fiction Writing

Ray Bradbury, author of Fahrenheit 451, said, "Science fiction is the most important literature in the history of the world, because it's the history of ideas, the history of our civilization birthing itself. ...Science fiction is central to everything we've ever done..." Many people believe the goal to science fiction writing is to predict the future. However, writing science fiction stories could actually guide technological development. This science fiction writing class will focus on the story elements, with science elements entwined. The main character will take off on his/her hero's journey to worlds beyond our galaxies!
